Hunting binoculars will have different features than a pair of birding binoculars or marine binoculars. They are especially useful for beginners as the right way up view makes it easy to navigate the skies.
The best binoculars for astronomy use are 7 x 50 or larger. I originally purchased the Monarch 10x50's for bird-watching and long range mountain scanning in Arizona, however, I found the extra sharpness of the 8X resolution meant that I didn't need the larger 10X magnification, because they had such excellent detail. The most advanced binocular lens cloths are made of microfibre.
In addition to this, the surface of the prism has a special mirror coating to prevent light loss. If you will be staying in one spot for a period of time then it might be to your advantage to consider mounting the binoculars on a tripod which would free up both hands and not require you to find the viewing area, refocus, and keep steady each time you pick them up. The size of the binocular will probably affect the way they feel in your hands.
Monoculars meant as a toy for children have magnifications of only three or four times and they are very cheap. Some of the binoculars have a greater close up focus capability. When I finally got my first pair of binoculars just a couple of weeks ago, it was like Christmas again.
There are also models with compasses built in, to keep you always on track when camping. My experience says you will need to spend at least two hundred and fifty dollars for a pair of binoculars worth having.
